Mac Asks For Name And Password For Server When Sharing Files What Is That

After updating to windows 10 it still asks for the user name and password. Even if I add Guest and Everyone with full controll in the permissions. I am sure I need to enable the Guest account before I can add guest account. For checking I went to user accounts but did not see Guest account but I accessed accounts using cmpmgmt.msc and checked the Guest account there which is enabled (because disable account was unchecked)

In versions of windows before Vista, file sharing was unpassworded by default. If you shared files everyone on the same network as your computer could access (and alter) files in the share as they saw fit. Starting in Vista, in addition to a number of other security improvements for sharing, MS made it so sharing without a password was unavailable by default. This is the setting that reverts to the old behavior. Obviously, it shouldn't be turned off without also taking other steps to secure the shared files in shared network environments. Sharing with Everyone in such cases would be unwise.

Select a user from Network Users or Network Groups, which includes users and groups with network server accounts. Network users and members of network groups can use their network name and password to connect to your Mac for screen sharing.

Permission settings determine who can view and alter files on the computer. You change permission settings at the bottom of the Info window for a file, folder, or disk in the Finder. For example, you can change permission settings for a folder so that other users who log in to your Mac, or connect to it for file sharing, can view but not change files in a folder.

I have Mavericks 10.9.5 trying to connect to a XP SP2 computer. My Macbook pro could see the shared device but not connect. I tried RDC 2.01 but that failed also. The XP computer had been on a Windows Domain so I changed it to a Workgroup with an 8 Alpha Character name. After a reboot I was able to see the shared drives and copy files to my Mac NAS device.

I am trying to access the folders that I have shared on my Windows machine. These folders are shared without the need for a password or account. I can access them from another Windows computer or Android phone without entering a password. However my Mac always asks me for a username and password to access these folders trough Finder. If I choose guest it doesn't work. If I enter an account from the windows computer I can access the files. But entering a password is annoying if there is no need for it. Can I fix this?

You can do that by going to Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center,Advanced sharing settings and then expanding All Networks. Here youwill see an option called Password protected sharing, which you canturn off. I personally keep it turned on, but if you really hatehaving to type in a username and password to connect, this is anoption.

Also, if you use Windows 10 without a password, this would save youfrom having to setup a password on your account. Note that even if youhave a Windows account with a password, if you turn off passwordprotected sharing, then people can still connect without typing anycredentials.

Use the storage account name and storage account key when prompted for a username and password: When you click "Connect" on the "Connect to Server" dialog, you will be prompted for the username and password (This will be autopopulated with your macOS username). You have the option of placing the storage account name/storage account key in your macOS Keychain.

Use the Azure file share as desired: After substituting the share name and storage account key in for the username and password, the share will be mounted. You may use this as you would normally use a local folder/file share, including dragging and dropping files into the file share:

When you ask Siri to read or search for information on your device, such as in Messages and Notes, and when Siri provides suggestions, like through widgets and Siri Search, all your personal information is kept on your device rather than being sent to Apple servers. Siri Suggestions in the QuickType keyboard are made possible by an Apple-developed neural network language process that also runs directly on your device.

The longer you use Siri and Dictation, the better they understand you and improve. To help Siri and Dictation recognize your pronunciation and provide better responses, certain information such as names of your contacts or music, books, and podcasts you enjoy is sent to Apple servers using encrypted protocols. Siri and Dictation do not associate this information with your Apple ID, but rather with a random, device-generated identifier. You can reset that identifier at any time by turning Siri and Dictation off and back on, effectively restarting your relationship with them. When you turn Siri and Dictation off, your Siri data associated with the Siri identifier is deleted. The learning process starts over when you turn Siri back on. On-device dictation helps protect your privacy further by performing all processing completely offline.

I am trying to connect to the My Cloud Home in finder and when I press connect as and the page comes up with guest or registered user I press registered user and you enter name and password, nothing works.

Using this helper will store your passwords unencrypted on disk, protected only by filesystem permissions. If this is not an acceptable security tradeoff, try git-credential-cache, or find a helper that integrates with secure storage provided by your operating system.

If your PC is secure or you don't care about password security, this can be achieved very simply. Assuming that the remote repository is on GitHub and origin is your local name for the remote repository, use this command

The --push flag ensures this changes the URL of the repository for the git push command only. (The question asked in the original post is about git push command only. Requiring a username+password only for push operations is the normal setup for public repositories on GitHub . Note that private repositories on GitHub would also require a username+password for pull and fetch operations, so for a private repository you would not want to use the --push flag ...)

Alternatively - for simplicity and security - you can supply only your username in the URL, so that you will have to type your password every time you git push but you will not have to give your username each time. (I quite like this approach, having to type the password gives me a pause to think each time I git push, so I cannot git push by accident.)

I used the answer that Pavel suggested and it worked for me. My difference was to do it while I was adding the remote like so: git remote add (alias) https://(name:password)@github.com/(the remote address).git

To protect private keys stored in P12/PFX files, use a strongpassword and set your password timeout options appropriately. Ifusing a P12 file to store private keys that you use for signing, use the default setting for password timeout option. This settingensures that your password is always required. If using your P12file to store private keys that are used to decrypt documents, makea backup copy of your private key or P12 file. You can use the backedup private key of P12 file to open encrypted documents if you loseyour keys.

The mechanisms used to protect private keys stored in the Windowscertificate store vary depending on the company that has providedthe storage. Contact the provider to determine how to back up andprotect these keys from unauthorized access. In general, use thestrongest authentication mechanism available and create a strongpassword or PIN when possible.

For my office we have set up a mac mini as a file sharing server that we can connect to by vpn. I have messed with the registry settings properly so that the VPN connects to the server just fine, but any time I try to open the shared files it tells me that my username or password is incorrect. I have tried putting the computer name before my username on the mac (COMPUTERNAME\USERNAME), as well as changing certain registry values to account for this but nothing has worked. The other windows users at my office have been successful with connecting to the share drive save for those few of us on Windows 10. I am certain that the password and username for my account on the mac are correct and that it is configured to allow windows users to connect to it for file sharing. Frankly I am just about at my wits end and would greatly appreciate any wisdom anyone would be able to share.

As for authentication, I have a profile set up on the mac in my name and that is what I use when attempting to access the shared files. Even my sysadmin has been unable to connect on my computer using his credentials, but they work just fine on his Windows 7 machine. From my research over the past few weeks I can tell this is primarily a Windows 10 issue.

I deleted the credential for the share drive and now when I try to access the drive I don't even get the same login prompt anymore. Now it gives an error that says the location is not accessible and that "A specified login session does not exist. It may already have been terminated". If I am able to get the login prompt for the file again, would I use the server's IP address for "IP\USERNAME"?

Neither my sysadmin nor I are familiar with Microsoft Message Analyzer and as such cannot use it to capture any network packages. I have also tried mapping the drive within windows but this also tells me that my username or password are incorrect.

SEER*Stat can operate in one of two modes, "local" and "client-server". In local mode, all processing and data are local to your PC environment; that is, your PC performs all calculations, and the program and data files are stored on the PC's hard drive or your local network. In client-server mode, the SEER*Stat software installed on your PC is the client and contacts the SEER server via the Internet to access data and perform calculations. 350c69d7ab
